Melani Bros. is an Authorized Installer of Temo Sunrooms

Our Temo Sunrooms can withstand category 4 hurricane-force winds of 146mph. There are over 10,000 Temo Sunrooms in Florida — none have been taken out by hurricanes.

Sunroom Certifications

AAMA, the American Architectural Manufacturers Association, has been recognized for more than 30 years for setting performance standards in home improvements. We've passed an extensive 6-step testing process required by AAMA and thus can assure our customers that our windows are proven the best in the sunroom industry with Gold Label Certification on all our exclusive window systems.

The most complete and rigorous test that can be performed on a window is the TAS 202 test protocol that is required by Miami-Dade County, Florida to meet Florida's elevated building standards in hurricane regions. We are proud to announce that on March 2, 2006, our Temo sunroom windows passed their six demanding tests as verified by an independent testing agency, Architectural Testing, Inc.

1. Ease of Operation
All windows have parameters regulating the force for their operation. This requirement ensures that every member of the family can open and close the window. The maximum force allowed is 20 pounds. Our windows operate with only 7 pounds of force.

The Only Sunroom with AAMA Gold Certification

Temo Sunrooms is proud to have earned AAMA Gold Certification on our exclusive window systems used in all our sunrooms — no other sunroom manufacturer can make this claim!

2. Air Leakage
Consumers are concerned about the amount of air that can leak past the window frame and into their sunroom. This test allows only 0.3 cubic feet per minute (cfm) of air to leak past the window. This is a very small amount and the smallest hole can cause the test to fail. The air leakage allowance is set low to reduce the chance of introducing outside temperature or humidity into the sunroom. Our windows have only 0.14 cfm — less than half of the test's requirement.

3. Water Infiltration
The test requires 8 inches of rain per hour be directed against the window. The test chamber is then put under a vacuum to try to bring water past the window. Failure occurs if a single drop of water falls over the sill. This is a very rigorous test. We passed with zero water penetration.

4. Structural Load
The AAMA test is designed to prove that the window frame and the glass can withstand high wind loads with 25 pounds per square foot. In addition, Temo Sunrooms has previously passed the wind load requirement for Miami-Dade County in Florida with winds of 146 miles per hour (equivalent to about 40 pounds per square foot) for 60 seconds.

5. Structural Overload
This severe test is for category 5 hurricane-force winds of 180 miles per hour for a sustained period of 30 seconds. Again, our sunroom passed where many conventional homes would fail.

6. Forced Entry
This test is run to determine the ability of someone to break into the room by forcing open a window. We had no forced entry after all seven tests due to our strong sash to glass connections and sturdy entry door system. In addition to passing AAMA certification, our sunrooms have passed higher standards required by the California Association of Window Manufacturers. This force-entry test is very stringent and involves trying to break into the window with various tools.
