Congratulations to our 2005 Sunroom Sweepstakes Winners!

The 2005 grand prize winners of a new Melani Bros. sunroom are Frank and Peg Trupia of Midlothian, Virginia.

Thank you for seeing us today. Tell us about your history in this home.

Frank:  We've owned this home for 10 years. We've been thinking for the last few years of adding a room to replace our upper deck.

Peg:  I thought yes, let's do a room. The mosquitoes love me too much — they don't like Frank at all.

The Trupias enjoy great views from their 2nd story sunroom.

Had your ever won anything before?

Peg:  The only thing we've ever won before was a $30 prize.

How did you enter our sweepstakes?

Frank:  I was walking through the Chesterfield Mall and decided to fill out a form at the Melani Bros. kiosk. I actually put Peg's name and phone number on it! It was for the luck of the Irish.

How did you find out that you had won?

Peg:  I answered my cell phone and someone said "you've won a sunroom. We'd like to set a time to come out and visit you." I was skeptical — What do you mean free? The person on the phone explained that the room was free but the only catch was that we'd have to report the wholesale cost of the winnings on our taxes.

Frank:  We researched it and verified that the taxes would not be too much. So, it kind of soaked in that we had won!

The Trupias now have a total backyard environment with sunroom, deck and spa.

What happened next?

Frank:  They came out and we checked out the truck and indeed it said "Melani Bros." on it. We had a design challenge with the steps but your guys creatively solved it.

We also had a delay getting approvals with our Home Owners Association (HOA) but it finally got ironed out.

What was the build-out experience like for you?

Frank:  It was hot and your contractors sweated like anything. The guys were very neat — very conscious of what they were doing. You have a good crew. We'd like to let you know what a great job they did inside and out.

Plus one of the selling points is that Melani Bros. takes care of you from beginning to end.

Peg:  I particularly like that the windows and screens are guaranteed for a lifetime.

How has this changed the way you use your home?

The Trupias with their gorgeous sheepdog.

Peg:  I came home one day and discovered that Frank had entirely decorated the room for us with this fun South Pacific theme.

We use our new sunroom to chill out in. Plus, I enjoy writing in my diary here. I also like how its so bright and open.

Frank:  Our sunroom has become our wine and cheese tasting area. It takes advantage of our great views.

Any advice for our readers?

Peg:  Oh, I would say to enter the sweepstakes!
