Congratulations to our 2005 Windows Sweepstakes Winner!

The prize of new replacement windows was awarded to Benita McBride of Virginia Beach, VA in January 2006. Actually, Benita had replacement windows installed by Melani Bros. last year. So, as a winner, she got her money back!

How did you enter our sweepstakes?

Benita:  I was the Pembroke Mall last year and stopped at your kiosk. I normally don't fill out entry forms like this but you guys had something I wanted — I needed better windows.

Why did you need new windows?

Benita:  Well, my family room windows face the north wind and were letting a lot of cold draft in. It was so bad that I had plastic up during the winter. And, with heating bills so high, we need to invest in energy efficiency.

What research did you do?

Benita:  I called up every windows company I could find in the Yellow Pages and asked to receive some information.

What happened next?

Benita:  Some companies came and showed me their products. When Mike with Melani Bros. came out he brought everything to show me. The others didn't even do half of what your company did. I was especially amazed during the demonstration when I couldn't feel any heat coming through your glass. I felt very comfortable so I ordered my new Melani Bros. windows.

When did we install your windows?

Benita:  They came out in March 2005. Even before the installation were fully sealed I was surprised at how much noise they kept out. Normally, the neighbor's lawn mower is very noisy. Not any more!

How has this changed your home experience?

Benita:  There's no draft any more. I like the security feature of having stops on both sides of the windows — not just on one side. And, of course, the north wind doesn't come in any more. My heating bills are lower even though heating costs are 50% higher! Also, I enjoy opening the windows in the summer. It's easy to do with just one hand. So, as you can see, I've been very happy with my decision.

How did you hear about winning the sweepstakes?

Benita:  Rick Menendez with Melani Bros. called me but I really didn't believe what he told me. I'd never won anything before except for a tiger-striped goldfish at Coney Island. When you called me back later to arrange to come out I realized it must be true. So, I started to get excited.

What will you do with the money?

Benita:  I haven't decided yet. Something will come up. I am very happy.

Any advice for our readers?

Benita: Anyone that doesn't know a lot about windows should definitely take the Melani Bros. presentation. You'll learn a lot. So, put your name in.
