2006 Sweepstakes Grand Prize Winners!

The prize of a new sunroom was awarded to Adrian T. and Edna L. West of Norfolk, VA on March, 2007.

Thank you for seeing us. Tell us about your history in this home.

Adrian:  We've lived in this three bedroom home for 43 years. Actually, we were both born and raised here in Norfolk, are both retired from civil service and have a perfect family with a son, Rick and a daughter, Cheryl.

Have you thought about having a sunroom before?

Edna:  We have often admired the work Melani Bros. does on sunrooms. Our neighbors down the street has one. And, I've wanted a sunroom so badly for many years.

Adrian:  Yes, we've dreamed of a sunroom for a long time.

Now the Wests have a garden paradise.

How did you enter our sweepstakes?

Edna:  I entered right here from my sofa! I got a mailer from Melani Bros. last spring and decided that we were going to win. So, I filled it out and mailed it in. As long as you think positive, things tend to turn out.

Adrian:  I'm not the lucky one — she is!

How did you find out that you had won?

The Wests love their new view!

Edna:  I got a call from Melani Brothers and I was just floored! I kept asking how much is this going to cost me? And they said it was free.

Rick:  I told my Mother that I thought this was some kind of sales pitch. If it sounds too good to be true it usually isn't.

Edna:  And, our daughter Cheryl kept saying "Mom, be careful. Don't get caught up in something." But I told her to not worry — this is the Melani Brothers.

What was the construction process like?

Adrian:  They did a wonderful job.

Edna:  They really stuck to it. The fellows were as nice as could be. The electrician was marvelous. And, they cleaned up real good.

Melani Bros. is very generous! In addition to a free room, they included a 5-piece rattan furniture set, a new sliding glass from the den, back-wall siding and an attractive ceiling fan. Our only expense was the berber carpet that our daughter picked out.

How do you use your new sunroom?

Adrian:  We love all the light! We've been told that we have our own botanical garden. The water has three levels and the birds are always taking a bath.

Edna:  It's just perfect. We have a great view of our bird feeders and fish pond. We can sit and watch the cardinals, woodpeckers, blue jays, and the thrush. It's a great joy watching the blue jays and squirrels eating the shelled peanuts we put out for them. And, it's a great place to do my crossword puzzles.

What other experiences have you had with the room?

Edna:  Our neighbors are thrilled with it. We've even kept the Melani Bros. sign up in our front yard. We want everyone to know how proud of the room we are.

Any advice for our readers?

Edna:  If you see the sweepstakes, go for it!
