Congratulations to our 2004 Windows Sweepstakes
Winners!
The prize of 15 new replacement windows was
recently awarded to Dr. Dan and Janis Jannuzzi of Richmond, VA. Here is their
heart-warming story.
Thank you for seeing us today. Tell us about your
history in this home. Dan: We
bought this home in 1997. It still had its original single-paned windows from
1978 and our family room was freezing in the winter. Janis:
We knew we needed to do something so we had some companies come out and give us
quotes but had not ordered any windows yet.
How did you enter our sweepstakes?
Janis: I was at the Short Pump Mall
with our daughter Karen and stopped at your kiosk. We noticed that the Grand
Prize was a new sunroom or 15 windows. Of course, you never win but I said "what
the heck, I'll do it."
How did you find out that you had won?

Janis:
Just a few months later I received a call from Rick Menendez with Melani
Brothers and he told us. All I could think was "What's the catch?"
Dan: We'd never won anything before. I wondered, was this a Yugo?
Are
they going to give us the cheap stuff? So, I told Rick Menendez that we didn't want them if they were cheap.
Janis: The funny thing was that
someone else had their name drawn before us. Apparently they had moved, though,
and were no longer eligible to win. So our name was drawn and we got the
surprise call!
What happened next?
Janis: Rick and the manufacturer's rep
came out to see us. We never felt pressured. We really trusted them. It was a
gift!
Dan: From the presentation we could tell that the windows were not
only nice — they were the best we had ever seen. We decided to buy four more in
addition to the 15 free windows. We were pleased when they offered to include
all of the mullion window-dividers for free. These are required to maintain the
colonial look in our subdivision. What
was the build-out experience like for you?

Dan: The two installers put in long days and were very good. The
back of our house is high off the ground but it was no problem for them. They
caulked and cleaned up nicely.
Janis: We had the house painted about four years ago and we were
pleased that they trimmed out the windows nicely. Now we won't have to paint
them — they are maintenance free.
Another company that we saw only had ranch-style windows and couldn't match our
colonial look. It was such a good match with your windows.
Dan: I knew that this was an elite window. It's just a fabulous
product.
How has this changed your home experience?

Janis: Our family room is warm again.
There is a definite energy savings. More importantly, the house looks great now. As you can see,
it's really pepped
up the front.
Dan: I like how the rain sheets off the windows. And, when we power
washed, the bleach ran right off and didn't mess up the windows at all.
Janis: The windows are everything they said they'd be. I was
worried about the re-installation of the blinds but it was no problem. Plus, the
old windows had faded our fabrics. Now I'm confident that we can put nice things
near the windows because of their great UV protection.
Could you please tell us about your professional
careers?
Dan: I'm the Medical Director for the
Crossover Health Center. We
provide free services for the uninsured. That takes up about 70% of my time. In
addition, I have a family practice.
Janis: I teach nursery school with the local Catholic Church.
Any advice for our readers?
Janis: Oh my gosh, if you see Melani Brothers sign up for the
free sweepstakes!
We think you'll agree that the Jannuzzi
family are most deserving winners.
